Falling Down

Chart of the Week for October 4-10, 2002

September is historically the worst month for stocks, and this year continued the trend. Concerns about war, the economy, and corporate earnings pushed stocks lower. For the Dow, it was the worst September since 1937. However, while past performance is not an indication of future results, the fourth quarter has tended to provide positive returns for stocks.
